Creating a new Section

In Joomla! a Section is a collection of Categories. It is the top level in the hierarchy for content in Joomla:

Sections > Categories > Articles

A website might have Sections called "Countries" and "Planets". Within the "Countries" Section, the website might have Categories such as "Asia" and "Europe".

Websites can have multiple Sections but Sections can't be sub Sections of one another.

Mosets Tree User Management

Each of the listings in the system are originally entered without an owner attached to the listings.

When a user comes to claim their listing it will trigger a workflow process that will require an administrator to verify that the right user has claimed the right listing.

From the administrator area,

    1. Navigate to the Mosets Tree component via Components > Mosets Tree in the backend of Joomla
    2. From the left hand menu in the component, click on Claims. Here you will be displayed a list of all the current claims in the system.

    3. The listing is displayed on the left while the claimer is displayed right after it. If these details match then it is likely that the right person is claiming the listing.
    4. Click approve and hit save if the listings are correct. If they are not then click reject or ignore. The user will be notified about their claim status.

Mosets Tree and the People Search

The people search directory part of the site is controlled by the component Mosets Tree, which is identified by the green leaf icon and can be found under Components -> Mosets Tree.

The directory is initially set up with the data provided but as user accounts were not created for each of the users, the administrators of the site will have to match the accounts with the directory entries as people claim their entries in order for the user to update and modify their details.

        Creating a Document for DOCMan

Once you have uploaded a file into to Joomla you will need to create the virtual document within DOCMan.

Navigate to Documents under DOCMan via the main menu in the admin area.

        adding-documents

        Components > DOCMan > Documents

Scroll down until you can find the name of the file that you are uploading into the system.

Tick the check box and click the New Doc icon in the top right area of the screen.

The Add Document screen will appear.

Enter the required information into the files, Name, Category, Agency and Publication and also check the approved and published states to yes.

        • Name refers to the name of the document
        • Category refers to the area of the website that it should sit under
        • Agency can usually be set to none and
        • Publications needs to be set to something appropriate.

To help users understand what the document is, a description of the document can also be entered in the Description area.

*Please note that the only thing that affects the search engine results in Joomla is the Name of the document and lesser so the description. The other fields have no effect.

Click SAVE and your document is now in the system and ready for linking.

        Uploading a file

If using a shared server over a local network, we can simply copy the file into the shared DocMan documents folder.

In this case the drive should be mapped as your Z drive and be pointing to //intranetsrv/dmdocuments2

Copying any files into that folder will essentially upload the file into the DocMan system.

Any file that is in the Z: Drive should be appearing in the files listed.

Next step is to create a document.

        Creating Categories

Creating categories in the backend admin area of DocMan helps for the organization of all the files.

To create a new category in the DocMan category structure, navigate to it via the main menu in the admin area.

        Components > DocMan > Categories

        Click on Add

Then fill in the form details with the appropriate information that is needed to populate the new category.

Category title and name can be identical and in most cases more helpful.

Parent item is required if the new category is a sub category of an existing category. Find the appropriate category and select it.

Once done, hit the SAVE icon and your category has been created.
