Menu: Linking a K2 Category to the Menu

In order to activate a Category into the Menu and front end of the website, a link between a Category and the Menu must be created.

Anchors and Linking Internally on a Page

An anchor is a point in your article or item that jumps to another point on the same page. For instance, you may have a long article with many sub-headings. Towards the top of your page, you might list your sub-headings and have them jump or 'link' to the relevant paragraph further down the page when clicked.

Anchors on a website are similar to a contents page in a book or magazine.

Linking to an Email address

In some situations you may want to link an email address directly to the email itself. This will cause the browser to invoke the default mail program on the computer, such as Microsoft Outlook, and create a new blank email to the desired email address. Linking to an email address is quite easy to do in Joomla.

Link to an image or document (PDF, MS Word etc)

Images and documents can be inserted into your joomla articles and items. It is very easy to upload them from your computer and store them on your website server.

Link to a Menu Item

In most situations it is a good idea to link to the menu structure within the site. This is usually required as module positions are assigned to menu items and for them to appear, links to these menu items are required.

Linking to Docman documents

If your site is using DocMan to manage all of its documents then the easiest way to link to all of these documents is to use the advanced link manager within the editor to browse to these documents that are stored within the system and the website.

Adding Content to an Item in K2

Adding content to an K2 item is as easy as copying and pasting text.
